'No Fighting in the War Room'
An Exhibition by Alan Mongey
From Wednesday 19th January to Saturday 29th January 2005
Signal Arts Centre is pleased to exhibit the Dublin artist Alan Mongey's first solo exhibition. His exhibition is an exciting mix of interactive sculpture, video and print. The work has been inspired by the continuous threat of global terrorism – both real and imagined.
Mongey is concerned with the media manipulation fuelling this new culture of fear. The war on terror had lead to a switch from free living to the idea of all consuming threat perpetuated by the special interests of the West.
Mongey hopes to give the alleged fears a physical presence so that through interaction with the work people should find it amusing, engaging and thought provoking.
Alan Mongey was born in Dublin in 1072 and holds a BA in Fine Art from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology. He has most recently exhibited as part of the Kilkenny Arts Festival and in Emsworth, England.
Opening Reception: Thursday 20th January 7-9pm
