From Wednesday 29th October to Sunday 9th November 2008
Signal Arts Centre is pleased to present an exhibition by the Women's Albert Art Group. The Women's Albert Art Group was formed in 1994 under the direction of Miriam Sweeney in the old Albert Walk Studio, which subsequently moved to the new Signal Arts Centre.
They have worked with many different media such as still life, sketching, collage, portraits, graphics and batik but the preferred medium is oils. They have also learned the art of canvas stretching and frame making. They have had many mentors including Sylvia Hill, Noel Cleary, John Dunne, Eleanor Phillips, Oonagh McFarland, Jan De Groot and Róisín Verdon.
The group consists of Áine McHugh, Jo Rutter, Margaret Bamford, Anne Clarke and Eileen O’Donnell. Some of them exhibited their work in the Signal Arts Society exhibition last July. This is their third exhibition.
Sadly, Margo Madden who was also a member of the group for several years passed away recently. She had exhibited her work on many occasions and her paintings will be included in this exhibition. Margo is fondly remembered by the group and will be dearly missed.
The Exhibition will be opened by Deputy Joe Behan
Opening Reception: Friday 31st October 7-9pm
