This exhibition is an expression and a celebration of a vibrant personality, which will not lie down. Ann was given a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. She found it increasingly difficult to stay in a mainstream work environment and so began freelancing and it was in 1997 she joined a studio with other working artists and began to paint in oils for the first time. Ann describes her work: 'I feel it wasn't until 1997 that I finally knew the medium most suited to my temperament and I found that painting in oils was a very real way of expression. Because my history is in design, my work, although mainly abstract, has its origins in design and graphics.'

In 1978 Ann received a Diploma in Communications & Design, with a Distinction from Sun Laoghaire College of Art & Design. In 2001 she received a Certificate in Arts & Empowerment Facilitation from Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork. She has spent most of her working life in the Animation Film Industry enjoying working on the making of, 'Watership Down' in London in 1976.

Other work experience includes a scholarship to undertake restoration of works on paper at the National Gallery of Ireland. She has written and illustrated six children's books, all published and two winning Irish Book Design Awards. In 2003 she was a recipient of Arts and Disability Ireland Award, (Arts Council funded). It has enabled Ann to undertake this project and put on this exhibition.
