From Tuesday 10th October to Sunday 22nd October 2006

Signal Arts are pleased to present 'This Doesn't Explain Anything' an exhibition of recent work by artist Barry Kehoe.

Barry's latest work is based on comic strip and cartoon images. He has always felt that somewhere between the tensions of text and image, narrative reveals our desperate cries for meaning in an unresponsive universe. Unsettling and strangely humourous, the drawings, comic strips and cartoons can recreate our experience of the world in an abstract mirror where we can play out our fantasies, explore our dreams and confront our nightmares.

We are remembered through the stories we tell. We constantly reconstruct our identity through re-imagining our past. This allows for the alteration of truth and fact as it becomes diluted by our imagination. Barry's drawings look at the tension between truth and fiction that memory creates and shows if anything that the truth can, in fact, often times be stranger than fiction.

Barry received a certificate in drawing and visual investigation from NUI in 2005. In 2003 he attended a course on Italian Renaissance art and architecture in the Instituto Italiano in Florence. He has exhibited at the N.C.A.D. Graduate show 2005, The Wicklow county buildings 2006 and held numerous workshops in primary and secondary schools around Ireland.

Opening Reception: Thursday 12th October 7-9pm
