From Wednesday 4th August to Sunday 15th August 2010
Signal Arts Centre is pleased to present this collection of work by artist Eoin O'Connor. Eoin graduated from NCAD with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting. He has exhibited on several occasions and his work features in the collections of The Office of Public Works, Axa Collection and The Beacon Hospital.
Employing a variety of media including painting, sculpture and photography, Eoin's work explores themes relating to architecture and the urban environment, scientific study and the natural world. Within these spheres the images produced aim to portray the structure and form of our environment, both in a physical and psychological sense. Working between the representational and the abstract these images allude to the notion of the ideal city. Self contained universes, they appear nostalgic and tranquil, but in reality are symbols of an unrealistic ideal.
For this exhibition, Eoin has gathered images from remote locations depicting the workplaces and environments of people working in the fields of scientific study and exploration. The paintings can be considered as a documentation of man's interaction with the environment in both a constructive and destructive manner.
