Transitions is the upcoming exhibition of a selection of work by Wexford based artist Fiona O'Connor.  With a BA (ordinary) in Photography and a BA (honours) in Fine Art from IADT, Fiona's practice incorporates both the still and moving image, often in conjunction with text.  Fiona has exhibited nationally and internationally – from Poland (The Lotz Photo Festival, 2005) to China (The 411 Gallery, 2005, 2007) and Sligo (Iontas, 2005, 2007) to Galway (Tulca 2006, Artisit? 2006) to her former base in Dublin (The Lab, The Back Loft, Broadstone XL 2007).  She is an active member of Moxie, and art collective based in Dublin.

Fiona's practice trades in the pathos of the overlooked: those ephemeral and somewhat immaterial ideas and occurrences that can occupy a space in the periphery of our thoughts, actions and vision.  Her work invites the viewer into the curiosities that surround our existence.  Compositional intrigue and the sensitive transformation of a slight observation or subject into a compelling form fuels her practice.  The idea/action often dictates the methodology used within the work.

Her work involves a searching for something that's not always visible (that you can't necessarily see), a feeling perhaps.

Opening Reception: Friday 5th September 7-9pm
