From Tuesday 27th February to Saturday 10th March 2001
In February of this year Signal Arts Centre will be showing an exhibition of abstract and landscape paintings by an English artist who has recently settled in Dublin mountains.
Guy Hanscomb was born in London but first studied painting in Louisiana in the early '90's at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art. There he received a strictly classical training. On returning to London in 1994, Guy attended the Chelsea school of Art and Design, where his work became abstract and conceptual.
Guy now works in both abstract and representational styles. Although markedly different, his two styles work well side by side. He has an obvious love for the Dublin/Wicklow landscape. His paintings of the Wicklow mountains, in particular, have a luminous quality which shines through the muted colours and elusive forms and compliment the more solid textures of his purely abstract work.
Opening Reception: Thursday 1st March 7-9pm
