From Tuesday 10th November to Sunday 22nd November 2009
Signal Arts Centre is pleased to present this installation by former staff artist Joanne Boyle. Joanne's work incorporates a mixture of both sculpture and installation. This show presents a new body of work by Joanne and is a series of experiments exploring the use of the material bitumen. Due to the nature of this material, the sculptures in this show will continue to evolve over time.
In this work Joanne is interested in the immediacy of art making and the demystifying of the art making process. Some of the pieces in this show are documentations of studio-based tests, while others will happen on site within the gallery. A major concern of Joanne's relates to the process integral to a 'finished' piece and so the constant shifting of this work throughout the show is an essential element and questions this very notion.
Joanne graduated in June of this year from IADT with an Honours BA in Visual Arts Practice. Since leaving college she has shown work in a group show entitled 'i made this for you' in the Market Studios and also received the inaugural DLR Arts Studio Award from Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council in July of this year.
Opening Reception: Friday 13th November 7-9pm
