From Tuesday 22nd June to Saturday 3rd July 2004
Signal Arts Centre is pleased to present an exhibition of new works by Marianne Keating.
About the Artist: Marianne received an Honours Degree in Fine Art, printmaking at Limerick School of Art and Design. She was awarded the Purchase Prize Award in the 7th Annual Tipperary Fine Art Graduate Show October 2001. Marianne has exhibited extensively throughout Ireland and is currently working as a full-time artist at Cork Printmakers Studios.
Marianne's work is derived from her interpretation of urban society. She aims to explore society's development and ideologies of the future.
'In a post-modern world, have we lost the ability to view the future with expectations as innocent as before? We no longer seem to look forward with the hope, energy and excitement that was so evident through previous decades. Have we lost the ability to dream? Are we instead willing exist in this liquid modernity?'
Marianne's strong use of colour and the flat two dimensional use of Screenprinting, combined with the use of Perspex and chrome film is the foundation of Marianne's expression and investigation.
Signal Arts Centre is delighted to have the renowned singer, Mary Coughlan open Marianne's exhibition.
Opening Reception: Friday 25th June 7-9pm
