From Tuesday 4th September to Saturday 15th September 2001
'After Rouault' is an exhibition of work by Dun Laoghaire artist Myriam Sweeney which is showing at Signal Arts Centre from Tuesday 4th to Saturday 15th September.
Myriam's work for this exhibition is a process in which she resolves issues raised by Georges Rouault's 'Crucifixion'. Using acrylic, ink and other media on heavy paper, Myriam works in black and white overliad on a layer of muted colour. Although she is not creating 'religious' paintings as such, Myriam is mindful of the fact that not so long ago, every Catholic home in Ireland contained such images. She says, 'I try to give voice to the other world.'
Myriam, a graduate of Dun Laoghaire School or Art and Design, has participated in various group shows and has previously exhibited at Signal Arts Centre and at Dun Laoghaire Arts Project.
Opening Reception: Friday 7th September 7-9pm
