From Tuesday 30th January to Saturday 10th February 2001
An exhibition of botanical water colours by Yanny Petters will be opened in the Signal Arts Centre on Tuesday 30th January at 7pm.
Yanny, who lives Enniskerry, Co Wicklow, originally trained as a sign writer and gilder with Michael Gemmell of Sign Design in Dublin and worked in this filed for twelve years. During this time she moved to London to do antique restoration. In 1993 she returned to Ireland to work as a painter.
Yanny paints plants, mostly Irish wild plants, and always work from life. She specializes in painting on glass, a technique she is studying and experimenting with. In this present exhibition, however, Yanny departs from this study to present minutely detailed watercolours. Her fascination with detail, form and colour awakens a greater appreciation for the plants that grow all around us in our everyday environment.
Yanny has exhibited widely, most recently in Panoptic 2000, Bray and during the Wexford Opera Festival in October of this year. She also accepts commissions on regular basis.
Opening Reception: Tuesday 30th January 7-9pm
